The best part of painting this restaurant mural art was being invited to MODA to sample the menu and meet the team.
Moda is situated in the heart of The Barracks premier retail precinct. Locals and tourists continue to be enchanted by the wholesome and delicious food created for Moda’s diners, which they can enjoy in a charming setting, nestled within a heritage-listed building.
At MODA every thing is an art for. The food, atmosphere, wine and service are all delivered with a sense of purpose. We wanted to bring that same artistry to this wall and capture the sense of playfulness and creativity that accompanies good food.
This was a uniquely shaped canvas to create mural art on and we particularly enjoyed taking our time at the pinnacle of the wall to hand letter the restaurant signage.

There is a great energy in this street that is always full of patrons looking for good food and drink, particularly after the football.

Restaurant Mural Art Design Process
We were encouraged to treat this project with passion and embrace it as artistically as possible. The clients wanted somethign distinctive and memorable that captured the passion of the making good food.
We spent hours drawing and refining and most importantly being playful in our approach.
Inspiration
We were hugely inspired by the amazing work of Gaudi, Dali and Picasso. We wanted to bring these elements together in a fun way that brought energy and excitement to the wall in the same way a chef brings energy and excitement to the plate:

Gaudí’s work was influenced by his passions in life: architecture, nature, and religion. He considered every detail of his creations. His work combined crafts such as ceramics, stained glass, wrought ironwork forging, and carpentry. He introduced new techniques in the treatment of materials, such as trencadís which used waste ceramic pieces.

The Bull, for this project symbolises:
In general, shows fecundity, protector qualities, sacrifice, chastity and patience. Many of its body parts, especially the tail, foot and hide, are also symbolic of special powers, fertility and land respectively. In the zodiac, the sign of Taurus represents the sun and the spring.
